Illustrations are ample, the original drawings being numerous and excellent in workmanship. Important terms, of which there are a very large number, most of them being anatomical, are italicized. Facts in Embryology, Physiology, and Taxonomy are carefully presented in brief form. There is an appendix with a resume of the phyla and their general characteristics, and a glossary of 13 pages. The book will appeal to many who favor a morphological treatment flavored by dashes of theory. CHARLES PACKARD.
